Kalamkari Fabric
Kalamkari originates from qalam (pen) and kari (craftsmanship). Majorly found in Hyderabad, this is a type of hand painting or block-printing on clothes. Srikalahasti style (pen kalamkari) leads to the beautiful dupattas that are displayed here. All the outlines and colours are carried out manually, and therefore it is a very tedious and time-taking process. However, these dupattas enrich your outfit and style you as a class apart in any event that you attend.

This is a beautiful lightweight Mulberry Silk Kalamkari hand block print dupatta that can be paired with anything! Kalamkari originates from qalam (pen) and kari (craftsmanship). Majorly found in Hyderabad this is a type of hand painting or block-printing on clothes. There are two types of kalamkari art in India – the Srikalahasti style and the Machilipatnam style. The Srikalahasti style uses a pen for freehand drawing of the subject and filling in the colors. Machilipatnam style uses wooden blocks for the creation of different designs. Both of these styles flowered around temples and their patronage and so had an almost religious identity – with deities and scenes taken from the Hindu epics – Ramayana, Mahabharata, Puranas and the mythological classics.
